Step Forward, Deflect, Parry and Punch 進步搬攔捶

Jìn bù bān lán chuí

How to do it

Step and turn the fist over to deflect (ban), step again while the left palm parries/blocks (lan), then step into a bow stance and punch with a vertical fist at solar-plexus height (chui).

Step by step

  1. Turn the waist, the right fist circles down and over to deflect
  2. Step out with the heel, fist pulling back to the waist
  3. The left palm parries forward
  4. Step into bow stance and punch with a loose vertical fist at solar-plexus height

Breathing

Inhale as you deflect and parry; exhale as you punch.

Health focus

Coordination of hands and stepping; gentle core rotation.
