Tai chi & qi gong
in Minneapolis

Classes across Minneapolis–St. Paul, Minnesota and the Twin Cities & Upper Midwest · online everywhere

Leave your shoes at the door. Here we slow down, breathe, and move gently together, standing or seated, at whatever pace your body asks for. It's mindful movement that isn't too much, rooted in Traditional Chinese Medicine.

With Joseph Evans · taught by Dr Adam Potts, PT, and Shifu Heng Chao of the USA Shaolin Kung Fu Academy, Denver

Introduction to Tai Chi and Qi Gong – The Crane Flow – For Beginners – Mindful Meditation
breathe in……and let it go

Before anything else, take one slow breath with the circle.

What the practice offers

A quiet place to return to 歸

衡

Steadiness

Slow weight shifts wake up the legs, ankles and inner sense of balance. Research links tai chi to fewer falls as we age.

靜

Stillness

Breath leads the movement, the mind follows, and the busy day softens. Many people find they sleep better.

柔

Softness

Gentle, low-impact movement builds strength and ease without asking your joints for more than they have.

氣

Vitality

Qi gong from Traditional Chinese Medicine works with breath and the body's channels to restore energy.

Practice together

Wherever people gather 相聚

I bring the practice to senior and community centers, clinics, workplaces, retreats and living rooms. Every class has a chair waiting, so no one is left out.

Questions

Often asked 問答

Where do you teach tai chi and qi gong?

I serve two home regions: the Denver metro and Front Range of Colorado, and Minneapolis–St. Paul in Minnesota. I travel to community centers, senior centers, clinics, workplaces and homes within roughly 500 miles of either city, and I teach online anywhere.

Is tai chi safe for seniors and people with limited mobility?

Yes. My classes are gentle and low-impact, and every movement has a seated (chair) version. Tai chi is widely studied for balance and fall prevention in older adults. Please check with your healthcare provider before starting any new exercise.

What will I learn in a class?

A calm warm-up and self-massage, the tai chi & qi gong flow I learned from Dr Adam Potts, PT, breathing practice and a short guided meditation.

Do you offer private lessons or classes for my organization?

Yes. I offer private lessons, small groups and ongoing classes for community centers, senior living communities, adult day programs, clinics, churches, libraries and workplaces.

Can I try a class for free?

Yes. Full beginner classes, warm-ups and guided meditations are free on the Figures In Space YouTube channel and on this website.
